A REVIEW OF THE FOURTH RESULT:

Open Wes' Original in CS3

1. Layer>Gradient Overlay layer. Solid. Linear. 128 value. Blend mode "Luminosity"

Merge down

2. Adjustment Layer>Posterize. Blend mode "Color"

Merge down

3. Create a Duplicate layer. Filter>Stylize>Find Edges. Blend mode "Normal"

Flatten & save

TENTH RESULT

Follow Steps 1 & 2 in Fourth Result above. Do NOT go on Step 3 above.

Merge down

3. Adjustment Layer Black & White. Adjust color sliders to suit.

Flatten & save

ELEVENTH RESULT

Use the Tenth Result.

1. Add Adjustment Layer>Threshold. Keep 128 setting. Blend mode "Normal"

Flatten & save

Back up to Threshold layer above. Keep 128 setting. Blend mode "Divide"

So there are my 12 results. Copy down or print out these directions for whichever one(s) you like. Take one of your own images into PhotoShop and start playing and see if you can get results similar to these. Who knows? You may just get inspired to go off in a different direction in the middle of playing with my directions! Best of all, have fun!
